Wells Carnival – Information for Catering Stalls

Wells Carnival 2018 - Friday 27th July to Sunday 5th August inclusive.

PLEASE NOTEDue to various logistical problems we have decided that the annual Fete Day, traditionally held on the Recreation Field on the 1st Sunday of carnival week, is to be relocated and will now take place on the Buttlands and the evening events will now only be open to Catering stalls. In addition we already have in place stalls providing alcohol and burgers/hot dogs/hog roast.

Thank you for your interest in having a Catering Stall at Wells Carnival. Please read thoroughly the information below before completing the enquiry form. 

Enquiries are invited from all catering stallholders, successful applications will not necessarily go to the highest tender. We will take into consideration regionally based businesses, locally sourced produce, bio-degradable and mimimum packaging plus measures taken by the stallholder to dispose of their own packaging waste etc.  We have many applications each year and try to opt for stalls that will offer a varied range of products and prices for our visitors.

We aim to have a maximum of 6 main catering stalls at our events offering as wide a range of food as possible.  We have our own Carnival Catering providing burgers, hog roast and hot dogs.
Catering stalls are invited to tender for pitches at one or more of our events.
On Fete Day and Carnival Day caterers must commit to staying through for the daytime and evening.

SPACE REQUIRED

Our standard minimum pitch size is 3m wide x 4.5m deep.  Your pitch requirements must include size of any essential unit that needs to be on site while you are trading e.g. storage, generator. We allow a depth of 4.5 metres; your frontage must include the entire length of your trading pitch including any banners , A frames etc which are only permitted within  your pitch boundary

ACCESS TO THE SITE

 is available up to 3 hours prior to daytime events and up to 2 hours prior to evening events before trading commences and set up must be complete half an hour before trading commences. Power may be available, but is limited therefore we must know your full requirement in advance.

ELECTRICITY SUPPLY **

Due to the amount of electricity required to power catering stalls we request that stallholders provide their own silent generator.  However, in some circumstances we can offer electricity to a small limited number of outdoor pitches - please include full details of requirements on the form below.  Electricity must be requested and booked in advance and the additional cost should be factored into the tender.   We will require full details of all equipment to be used and Stallholders should provide their own PAT tested extension cables.

*NB No teas, coffees or soft drinks to be sold at these events as Wells Carnival Crew will be selling to help raise funds.

 

Stalls for Wells Carnival events will be confirmed within approx 2/3 weeks of the initial enquiry being made.


You may be aware that Wells Carnival is organised by a team of volunteers.  The activities/events are either free of charge or to cover costs.  The committee rely on sponsorship/donations from individuals & businesses and run regular raffles to raise funds to cover the costs involved.  Any stallholder who donates a prize for the raffle (value of £5.00 or above) or makes an additional donation of £5.00 or above will have their stall name and website/email automatically added to our website for the coming year.  Raffle prizes will be collected by a member of the Carnival Committee or can be handed to the Carnival Merchandise stall on the day of the event.  Due to time constraints we would appreciate no vouchers unless they can be redeemed online.

Standard pitches will be for ONE 3m wide frontage x 4.5m deep pitch with no electric hook up. If you require a larger pitch, please give details of size required.
